Each learning activity links Essential Skills and work habits to some sample courses in the Ontario curriculum and provides examples of how people use these skills in specific occupations or in everyday life. The activities can be searched by course or other features, including Essential Skill or Occupation. Educators are invited to adapt these activities to meet the needs of their learners.

Resources made available in this sample activity database are created by Ontario teachers for Ontario teachers and students. Each activity links Essential Skills and work habits to some sample courses in the Ontario curriculum. Sample activities are currently available for some courses and pathways including:

Essential Skills/Work Habits Help
Educators can search for activities where learners can demonstrate a specific Essential Skill, skill level or work habit.

For example, teachers may choose 'Reading Text' and 'Level 2' from the drop down menus. This search displays all activities that have one or more Essential Skills tasks for this Essential Skill and skill level.

Essential Skills
We use Essential Skills every day in our roles as learners, workers, and members of the community. Essential Skills tasks are real tasks used in daily life and in the workplace, such as reading a brochure to learn about a fitness class, writing a note to a co-worker, or deciding which route to take to get from one part of the city to another.
